What exhibit is upcoming in the main gallery?
​
The South Carolina Festival of Flowers Juried Art Show is a sanctioned exhibition hosted annually by The Arts Center of Greenwood in concurrence with the award-winning festival. The exhibition is on view in the main gallery June 6 - August 2, 2025. The exhibition represents exemplary contemporary art throughout the state and southeast.

Entry Eligibility

Anyone 18 years or older may submit an art entry. All original works of art (not previously on view in a juried art show at The Arts Center of Greenwood) are eligible. Submitted artwork can include any media. If artwork is juried into the show, delivery and shipping are acceptable, but all shipped artwork must include a return label. All artwork must be securely and properly prepped for installation. No clip mounting will be accepted on wall-hanging works. If submitted artwork is not adequately prepped for display, it will be subject to removal from the exhibition. While there are no size restrictions, entries must be portable and capable for display in a conventional gallery setting. All double door frames in the gallery measure 70"X79" with a 90" diagonal and all submitted artwork must be transported through the doors. The Arts Center of Greenwood reserves the right to refuse any entry and to withdraw any work of art from exhibition at its discretion. At point of sale, The Arts Center of Greenwood will retain a 30% commission of the retail value of each artwork. A non-refundable, one-time entry fee of $35 is required for up to two entries in the exhibition.

Juror Biography


​Michaela Pilar Brown is an image and object maker. She studied sculpture and art history at Howard University, though she has always been a maker of things. Born in Bangor, Maine and raised in Denver, Colorado, she cut her teeth in the halls of a museum where her mother worked as a security guard, and has been immersed in the culture of objects, their making and interpretation ever since. 

She is an independent curator and multidisciplinary artist using photography, installation, collage, painting and performance. Brown is a 2024 Joan Mitchell Foundation Fellow. She is the 2018 grand prize winner of Artfields juried art competition. She is a 2018 inaugural resident artist of the Volcanic Residency, Whakatane Museum, Whakatane, New Zealand. She was one of the six American artists selected to participate as a Resident Artist for OPEN IMMERSION: A VR CREATIVE DOC LAB produced by the CFC Media Lab, The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) and JustFilms | Ford Foundation in Toronto, Canada, an Inaugural Resident Artist at the 2016 Sedona Summer Colony and a 2016 Artist in Residence, Kunstlerwerkgemeinschaft Kaiserslautern, Germany. Brown has been a resident artist at the Vermont Studio Center and the McColl Center for Art and Innovation. Her work can be found in private and public museum collections in the United States. She is the former Executive Director of 701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia, South Carolina., where she served 2020-2022. She has served  on the board of directors for One Columbia SC, One Columbia for Arts & History is a non-profit organization formed to support and promote tourism in Columbia, South Carolina, and the Barabara Deming Memorial Fund, the oldest ongoing feminist granting agency. She is the owner/director of Mike Brown Contemporary Art Gallery.
