Movement in Color is a retrospective exhibition celebrating 80 years with local artist, Gene Shirley. The exhibition will feature over 20 large-scale, mixed media paintings on canvas or wood panel. Shirley’s work is often non-objective, reflecting the colors and textures of nature, and movement in light and water. The paintings are grand in scale, commanding space and often employing materials such as acrylic, dyes, oils and even tissue paper. The exhibition will be on view in the main gallery August 7 - 29, 2024.

Please join us for an open reception on Friday, August 9 @ 5:00 - 7:00 pm to celebrate the exhibition and Gene's 80th birthday! The event will feature hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and is free and open to the public.  

All proceeds from the sale of artwork during this exhibition will serve to benefit the mission and future programs of The Arts Center of Greenwood.
