The Brickmasters of the Lakelands exhibition spotlighted over twenty original Lego creations crafted by members of the Lakelands community. The exhibition was on view in the main gallery September 13 - October 22, 2022.
In August, the center hosted an inaugural event and Lego competition in which community members submitted Lego builds of their own design. The competition included eight categories: Youth/Elementary, Youth/Middle, Youth/High, Adult, Family, Non-Profit, Business and Kit Category. Entrants competed for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category and overall Best of Show. The competition theme was "community," and was juried by Lego master builder, Jonathan Lopes. Among the builds are cherished staples of the community including the Greenwood County Library, Arts Center of Greenwood, South Carolina Festival of Flowers Topiaries, Uptown Market, Pathway House Village and more. Of the 40+ entries, half were selected for exhibition in the main gallery space through the end of October and will be a feature exhibit at the upcoming iMAGINE Lakelands STEAM Festival.
